The possessive adjectives in English (also called ‘possessive determiners’) are: my, your, his, her, its, our and their. They say who something belongs to.

• I have a laptop – this is my laptop.

• You have a mobile phone – that is your mobile phone.

• He has a tablet– it is his tablet.

• She has a webcam– it is her webcam.

• The dog has a bed – it is its bed.

• We have a password– it is our password.

• They have an email address –  This is their email adress.

The possessive pronouns also say who something belongs to, but they replace the noun. So, we use them alone. In this case, we don’t use ‘its’. In English, the possessive pronouns are mine, yours, his, hers, ours and theirs.

• I have a laptop – this is mine.

• You have a mobile phone – that is yours.

• He has a tablet – it is his.

• She has a webcam – it is hers.

• We have a password– it is ours.

• They have a email address – This is theirs.
